Highlights of West End

West End invested in a large milling machine , from Haas, Type VF-8/40 – GM-2. This machine will be used for milling MGSE tooling like Vibration Adapters, Side Wall Simulators and Copy Frames.
The installation date will be December 2022.

West End attended the Launch attempt of Artemis at the Space Expo museum. Our Director Ben van Berge Henegouwen was asked to explain our role in the project as we manufactured the Vibration Adapters, Side Wall Simulators and Copy Frames as well as the flight hardware interface of the Vertical Integration RIG. Furthermore we delivered the famous red “remove before flight” protection covers.

West End 75 / 50 years in Space: This year we celebrate our 75 years jubilee together with our 50  years active in Space Industry. To celebrate this, we will build a new website and a special book about our legacy in Space.

West End Academy. To build and train the workforce of the future this month we opened our doors for two internships. As our company is active in both Engineering and Manufacturing we have students from both directions and levels, namely the famous Leidse Instrumentmakersschool and the Masters Study of Mechanical Engineering of the Haagse Hoge School. Next to this our workforce receives updates in certified welding.

New Operations Manager’; Robert-Jan van Kleef (ex-Hittech) joined West End as Operations Manager. Together with our Partner for Operational Excellence Patagonia he will lead our continuous improvement programmes on Lean Manufacturing and ERP Shop Floor Control for our three main industries: Space, Flight Simulation and Process Industry.
